This week on Under the Influence: How retailers influence women vs. men.

The majority of women take their time shopping, they love to peruse, wander, and derive enjoyment from shopping. The majority of men, on the other hand, are mission-oriented, and want to get in and out as fast as possible.

The differences between the sexes is endless. For example, the number one complaint from women is poor service in stores. The number one complaint for men… lack of parking spaces close to the store door. That’s a big gap.

Only 37% of men ask for help, but over 75% of women do. Women are acutely aware of sale prices, the majority of men not so much.

And a recent research study revealed that the average woman spends eight years of her life shopping – over 300 shopping trips per year. Men, only a fraction of that. It’s a fascinating study.

Men are from Sears, women are from Bloomingdales.
